Coming soon..........
QWK Door for GT - Selective or Random Tag Lines.
PLEASE NOTE: It would appear that on some QWK mail doors
there is something called a NET flag. Which
the Remote Sysop sets to STOP messages being
uploaded that do not come from the user who
is currently logged on. If this is the case
with the Remote BBS you are calling, you can
only upload messages that you yourself have
originated. ie Your name MUST be in the
FROM field of the message.
If you speak nicely to the Remote Sysop and
convince him of the extra input he is going
to have generated in his message areas, I am
sure he will oblige and turn the flag off.
There is a PASSWORD field in the QWK header,
does anybody know how this is used? Perhaps
I can make use of it in conjunction with the
above problem........

Lots Of Added support for Batch processing:
Requests GTQWK -i Import from QWK to GT
GTQWK -e Export from GT to QWK
08-10-91 1.6ß
Added log file - GTQWK.LOG - APPEND mode.
Added Private flags for both Imported and Exported
messages. (I think! - I've used the '+')
Changed FROM and TO fields in imported files to Upper
and Lower Case for Names, should now be able to quote
using MMR and get the correct results.
Fixed Bug that prevented mail being accepted by remote
BBS that had less than an 8 character ID.
Added archiving for up to 5 QWK files after each Import:
QWK -> .Q01 Q04 -> .Q05 Q03 -> .Q04 etc....
Now restores current working directory after Shelling
out.
Tidied up the .REP processing; under certain
circumstances the message header was not correctly
formatted, messages were being rejected by the remote
mail reader.
02-10-91 1.5ß
Burk Mielke Added support for .NDX files in qwk packet. Will bypass
those conferences that have no mail in the qwk packet in
the Import to GT process.
This speeds the import process up quite considerably.
More Speed tweeks to come.
Burk Mielke Finally resolved the problems with multiple conferences
when more than the default no of files are opened. I was
forgetting to close one of the .ctl files!
(Thanks for the test data Burk! - the Tag Line).
This has now been tested on 120+ conferences 18 of which
had messages imported into GT.
Automatically add a MESSAGE.CTL and GTMSGS subdirectory as
long as the Message Directory Exists.
Added more comments on opens and closes of files. This
is for debugging purposes only and will be removed later.
Dan Macusco I have a problem with the 'PRIVATE' flag in the QWK format.
The documentation I have is conflicting one says '~' the other
says '+' is the QWK flag for PRIVATE mail. Will resolve that
next time - for the time being ALL mail imported/Exported will
be PUBLIC.
Various Removed the Evaluation Copy Unregistered tag line. All you get
now is ■ GT-QWK 1.5ß
(Plus your tag line if its registered) :-
£UK10+ (Cash or Cheque)
$US18+ (Notes Only or $25+ Checks)
$AUS22+ (Notes Only or $30+ Cheques)
28-9-91 1.4ß Fix to unzip QWK files once per Remote BBS.
25-9-91 1.3ß <----- Note the numbering change! GTQWK13.ARJ
All new versions will appear in my Fileout area as:
GTQWKnn.arj
where nn = relates to the current version number
13 = V1.3
All Change - combined into one program GTQWK.EXE. This
is now Menu Driven in glowing Colour, and allows
selction of each of the old programs.
Added options for Editing Config file - Currently uses
Qedit - will be configurable - for the time being you
can set up a Q.BAT file if you dont use Qedit.
eg.
Q %1
Added option for Shelling to Mail Reader - currently MMR
- will be configurable - for the time being you can set
up an MMR.BAT file.
Added Option for Shelling to DOS. (If you should change
Drive and directory please change back to where you were
- will do this next release)
Burk Mielke Added more informative messages - no of messages
imported exported etc. Show the paths for control files.
(Easier to Debug<g> Burk - can you let me know if this
reaches the 200 mark). Which conference no's are being
imported, exported.
Drastically changed the GT-QWK option for multiple
conferences within BBS. (Did not quite work as expected
on multiple conferences within the same Remote BBS)
NOTE. If you are exporting to more than 1 Remote BBS,
they MUST be grouped together in the GTQWK.CNF file to
ensure that only 1 REP file is generated - covering all
that BBS's conferences.
FOR THE TIME BEING - IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CLEAR
DOWN .QWK MESSAGES AFTER RUNNING QWK-GT, AND THE .REP
FILES WILL BE CREATED EACH TIME GT-QWK IS RUN.
IF YOU DON'T CLEAR DOWN THE QWK FILES - THEY WILL BE
IMPORTED OVER AND OVER AGAIN INTO GT!
COULD I HAVE SOME THOUGHTS ON HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE
THE IMPORTED .QWK BAGS DEALT WITH.
I was thinking on the lines of moving them to an archive
with a date/time stamp as the filename.
Similarly with the .REP files if GTQWK finds an existing
.REP file, should it delete it, append it or what? At
the moment it deletes it and starts from scratch.
Your replies would be appreciated, and go towards the
next release(s).........
21-9-91 1.02ß
Gene Newcomb Quick fix to allow conferences above 127 should have
been unsigned char not a char.
20-9-91 1.01ß
Included serial no checking.
Made allowance for user supplied origin lines on registered versions
19-9-91 1.00ß General Release:
This set of utilities allows transfer of mail between GT and any other BBS
that supports a QWK format door.
There are 2 utilities:
1. QWK-GT.EXE - This converts a .QWK format file of messages that have been
downloaded from a remote BBS - using a QWK door e.g QMAIL
2. GT-QWK.EXE - This converts all new messages from the GT Conference and
generates a .REP file for uploading to the remote BBS.
Setting Up.
Both utilities use the configuration file GTQWK.CNF which has the following
format:
c:\gt\down
c:\gt

Which must have been initialised.
Required:
PKZIP / PKUNZIP to be in the PATH
GTQWK.CNF to be in the same directory as GT-QWK.EXE / QWK-GT.EXE
Useage:
1. QWK-GT
Contact your local non GT BBS, and using the QWK mail reader download your
mail. Make sure that the MESSAGE.CTL file been set up in the GT message
area you intend using. Run QWK-GT, this will extract the MESSAGES.DAT file
from the .QWK packet and unzip it. This file is then read and only those
messages that relate to the requested conferences are extracted. These
generate GT Messages which are flagged as "bagged".
2. GT-QWK
This reads the GT-QWK control and processes all records that have not had the
"bagged" flag set. It extracts each message and writes the relevant QWK control
data and text to a "remote".msg file. This is then Zipped up to a "remote".REP
file.
QWK-GT creates a control file GTQWK.CTL in the messages directory and records
the last extracted message no.
Call the Remote BBS and using the QWK mail reader U)pload your "remote".REP
file. Now D)ownload your replies.
Thats all there is to it - quite simple really.
GT-QWK / QWK-GT are NOT LAN AWARE - this will come in future releases,
providing there is a call for it.
Registration.
Whatever you think its worth plus £10.
Registration lets you have your origin line on messages, and removes the
Unregistered warnings.
